Dear Colleagues
Registration is open for the course PRINCIPLES OF VERTEBRATE FUNCTIONAL MORPHOLOGY, October 16th-20th, 2017, Barcelona (Spain).
INSTRUCTORS: Dr. Anthony Herrel (French National Centre for Scientific Research, France) and Dr. Anne-Claire Fabre (French National Centre for Scientific Research, France)
LOCATION: Facilities of the Centre de Restauració i Interpretació Paleontologica, Els Hostalets de Pierola, Barcelona (Spain).
Places are limited to 16 participants and will be occupied by strict registration order.
The objectives of the course are to provide insights into the tissues that make up the musculo-skeletal system in vertebrates, their functional properties and their function.
The course will review the basics of biomechanical models and the analyses of movement. Practical sessions where participants measure and use force transducers, high-speed cameras and build biomechanical models will be included. The goal of the course is thus to provide participants with a solid background in vertebrate functional morphology and ecomorphology irrespective of the system they are interested in.
Although the course is mostly geared towards students of vertebrate biology, invertebrate examples will be mentioned as well.
