VPg = Viral Protein, genome linked.
Covalently linked to the 5' ends of both + and - strands of picornavirua
RNA molecules. Has some role in replication. Two conflicting theories
include its use as a primer of replication and its role in clipping
dimeric replicative intermediates into monomers via a transfesterification
reaction.
Adenovirus also has a VPg which is much larger than the 22 amino acid
residue of polio VPg (50 kDa?). The data supporting its role in
priming DNA synthesis during replication is fairly firm.
As for the vector with an Mlu1 site, I'd advise you to stick it in yourself.
It would be quicker and you'd know what you had!
