Yeah, well, I was talking about NATURAL viruses here...and watch
out, if the Rev. James reads this, he will report you to his cousin
the law enforcement officer...! But that really WOULD be a nasty,
wouldn't it? Under the control of a vaccinia late promoter,
engineered so it initiated and terminated appropriately - and would
presumably express appropriately from vaccinia. BUT what about
splicing? Wouldn't get appropriate splices, wuld you, not being in
the nucleus and all? Would presumably make gag and maybe pol OK,
but not env...unless the pol could work on non-encapsidated RNA, and
you got appropriate genomic insertion, THEN the normal retrovirus
expression. Sounds like a "shoot when receive grant proposal" type
of project to me!
