I suggest you rewrite your major plot line making it an
airborne bacterium instead of as virus. There are a number of
bacteria which are far more transmissible via airborne
or aerosol droplet infection than any virus. Example multi-drug resisten
M. tuberculosis, Yersinia pestis (pneumonic plague),
Bordella (pertussis), etc.
