Are plant viral promoters expressed in mammalian cells? The CaMV 35S promoter
is the prototypical strong "constitutive" promoter for expression in plants
, and I believe that the SV40 "t" promoter serves a similar role for
heterologous expression in mammalian cells (???), but has anyone used theser
promoters across the kingdoms? Also, can one expect all/most viral promoters
to be expressed at some, albeit low, level in heterologous eukaryotes?
Any feedback or references on the subject would be appreciated. Thanks.
