Interferon alpha beta gamma?

I read an article (not written by virologists) suggesting that the
interferons induce a broad spectrum antiviral response other than that
which can be explained by a cell-mediated immune response.

Is a broad spectrum response observed?
Or is it dependent on the host/virus?

Can anyone tell me (or point me to a concise review) what the
breakdown is for interferon alpha, beta, gamma; i.e. potency of
any specific or broad spectrum antiviral response.

I know gamma interferon is involved in cell-mediated immunity and up
regulates antibody production (textbook stuff).
I'm interested for responses that aren't related
to the production of antibodies, e.g. ones observed in cell culture.

Thanks in advance.
