Two postdoctoral/research affiliate positions are available to study
host-encoded barley yellow dwarf virus resistance in wheat and barley.
This research will primarily involve identifying and isolating genes for
BYDV resistance and determining the molecular genetic and biochemical
basis for this resistance. Other research areas include using a
replicase-mediated approach to obtain BYDV resistant transgenic wheat and
barley plants [Anderson et al., 1992, PNAS, 89:8759-8763; Zaitlin,
Anderson et al., 1994, Virology, 201:200-205]. Applicants must have
demonstrated research experience in molecular biology. Applications will
be accepted until the positions are filled. The starting salary is
$28,648.00 with benefits. A letter indicating research experience and
