She might enjoy Sense and Sensibility.  One of the characters, named Mrs. 
Smith, appears to have a Gillian Barre.  Jonas Salk had it in about 
1980.  The recovery rate is probably higher than that in CFIDS which is 
very similar.  Loss of function on that disease, however is from a Kreb's 
Cycle defect.
