"New" virus in S.America??

Hello.  I just watched the TLC channel's "Killer Virus" special and 
they mentioned a new virus outbreak in S.America.  They weren't
specific, as was the way with most of the program, but I though they
referred to it as a hemoragic type of viral infection.  Anyone know
what they were talking about?
