Hi... hope no one gets upset with me for this, I know it's probably one
of the most selfish uses of the Internet I have ever seen... with the
possible exception of cybersex, of course..
I recently contracted a case of mononucleosis, which I am getting
over now. My sore throat is gone completely, swollen glands under my
chin and behind my throat are still noticably large, but are going down.
I still experience light fatigue and drowsiness occasionally, but other
than that all of my symptoms have vanished. I was diagnosed, and
everything I say here was told to me by an R.N. at the University of
Pittsburgh's Student Health Service.
Here's my question: I have a girlfriend, who has never had
mononucleosis, and she and I have kept physical contact to a 0 level for
her sake. I asked the R.N. at my last checkup whether or not it was safe
to kiss my girlfriend, and she said it was, but that I should still not
drink from the same cup or use the same silverware. But does this make
sense? I have a feeling she may have misunderstood exactly what I meant
by "kiss".. She and I are fairly sloppy kissers, if you'll forgive the
disclosure, and we share a good deal of saliva in a night. So, my big
question is, IS this safe? I'm hoping someone here will know, because
it's important to me, as I don't want to get her sick.
Again, thanks to anyone who can answer me -- I realize this is
probably not something often posted here...
