Description of General Responsibilities Assists with the day-to-day
operations of a virology program. Performs or assists in a wide variety
of techniqiues such as cell cultures, virus propagation, virus
detection, protein isolation and purification, nucleic acids (DNA, RNA)
isolations, PCR, gel electrophoresis, cloning and sequencing, animal
experiments, and working with DNA software and databases.
Qualifications Degree in microbiology, biology, biochemistry, or related
area or equivalent training and experience, including laboratory
experience; knowledge of molecular biological and/or microbiological
techniques. Knowledge of basic laboratory safety practices, sterile
techniques and good laboratory practices.
Preferences given for Experience or knowledge in virology or
microbiology related techniques. Ability to be certified to work with
radio-isotopes, work in BL-3 facility and handle class III pathogens and
be vaccinated with vaccina (virus used to eradicate small pox).
Full-Time or Part-Time FULL-TIME POSITION
Number of Hours Per Week 40
Normal Work Schedule Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
