Dear All

I have a BBSRC CASE Ph.D Studentship available to study the assembly
and budding of influenza virus.

The three year project is to study the genetics and biochemistry of
influenza virus
assembly and budding, with particular reference to lipid rafts, the
formation of
filamentous virions and the role of the host cell cytoskeleton. The
student will
be primarily based in the Division of Virology, Department of Pathology,
University
of Cambridge, but some time will also be spent at the Animal Health
Trust, Newmarket.
Techniques to be used include confocal and electron microscopy, cell
fractionation,
virus reverse genetics as well as standard molecular biological and
biochemical approaches.

For further details or to apply, contact Dr Paul Digard
(pd1 at mole.bio.cam.ac.uk).

Available 1st October 2001 to UK or EU citizens (fees only for non -
UK).
