Post-doctoral Microbiologist (Virology) position.
The incumbent will be expected to complete full-length genome sequence for
avian pneumovirus isolates. This is a newly recognized virus in the U.S.
that causes respiratory disease in turkeys. The long-term goal will be to
recover infectious clones along with expression of virally encoded proteins.
The position is located at the Southeast Poultry Research Laboratory,
Agricultural Research Service, USDA, Athens, GA. The starting salary will be
$43,326/yr with health and leave benefits. This is a two-year temporary
appointment. A PhD in microbiology or related field is required. Only a
U.S. citizen or a citizen of a country which is a treaty member with the
U.S. may fill the position.
