It can be a bit tricky growing CMV up in a plaque assay, as they can
take a couple of weeks before they show any significant CPE, I found a
really old publications, but your best bet is to get hold of some
viral/rickettsial lab method text books,

Rager-Zisman, B. and Merigan, T.C., 1973. A useful quantitative
semi-micromethod for viral plaque assay. Proc. Soc. Exp. Biol. Med.
142, pp. 1174–1179.

Wentworth, B. B., and L. French. 1970. Plaque assay of cytomegalovirus
strains of human origin. Proc. Soc. Exp. Biol. Med. 135:253-258.

Chou, S. W., and K. M. Scott. 1988. Rapid quantitation of
cytomegalovirus and assay of neutralizing antibody by using monoclonal
antibody to the major immediate-early viral protein. J. Clin.
Microbiol. 26:504-507

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful or punctual...
