Ed,

This is the same old, same old bionet.virology.
About 20 years have gotten behind Bionet now ... it was
started back in the mid or late 1980s at Intelligenetics/Stanford, as
part of their NIH contract for bioinformatics (not called that then),
to promote electronic discussion in the biosciences.  

One new thing that is bringing many folks to rediscover Bionet is
that Google now searches all of the archived wisdom and folly
from the past 15 years of Bionet.
