Another Introduction

Hi

I'm another net-lurker, checking this group out on an irregular
basis. It seems to be an interesting and useful group though, so
I'd like to introduce myself - much as I find the concept still
weird.

I'm a 3rd year PhD student. Working in Wellington, New Zealand for an
agricultural research company where I am the only student. I find
this quite isolating sometimes.

I'm studying the expression and translation of insulin-like growth
factor-I (and I'm sick of typing it out in full) in the sheep ovary.
Basically where it is, how it works and if it's important. until
now i've used mostly molecular biology techniques, although i'm about
to launch into assays and protein work for the next 6 months or so.

My undergraduate degree was at Otago University, in Dunedin NZ.
I graduated in anatomy and biochemistry. Close ties with medical
school although, thankfully, i resisted the temptation to join.

I've recently returned from a conference in Colorado, following which
I had a glorious holiday in the sun (it's winter here). so getting
back into the study isn't easy.

Hello, Kia ora.

Brenda
