Stockton State College in Pomona, NJ, has several tenure-track vacancies in
science and math for next year:
BIOLOGY: Teaching expertise in neuroscience, animal physiology, animal
behavior; will participate in introductory biology and general studies
courses. 8-person department.
CHEMISTRY: 8-person department seeking individuals with spark, insight, and a
commitment to undergraduate teaching to teach:
Biochemistry: Teaching expertise in biochemistry lectures and labs; student
based research in modern biochemistry; introductory chemistry lectures and
labs as well as general studies courses.
Instrumental/experimental chemistry: Teaching expertise in instrumental
chemistry with an emphasis on environmental chemistry; teach instrumental
portion of Laboratory Methods, develop student based research, teach
introductory chemistry lectures and labs as well as general studies courses.
ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES: 10-person Environmental Studies/Geology program seeks
someone with scientific background appropriate to teach in some of the
following areas: ecosystem toxicology; air and water quality; environmental
engineering; regulation and law; remediation; impact assessment. Strong
commitment to undergraduate education and research involving students.
MATHEMATICS: Seek an excellent, versatile teacher to be part of a strong
9-person mathematics program; interest in applications of mathematics will be
a plus.
Stockton is a young, liberal arts, undergraduate college located in the New
Jersey Pine Barrens. It is near Atlantic City and the Jersey shore, about an
hour from Philadelphia, and about two hours from New York City. Teaching
excellence is strongly emphasized, and a productive research program,
preferably involving students, is expected. The college enrolls about 5000
students.
Appointment will be at the Assistant Professor or Instrutor level. Assistant
Professor requires a Ph.D. and is strongly preferred; Instructor requires ABD
and active pusuit of the terminal degree. Current salary range is
$27,430-34,860, may be higher depending on qualifications, experience and
increases in the NJ Higher Education Compensation Plan. Screening begins
