It all depends on your point of view. If you love to teach, do research,
have some time to dream up grant proposals, serve on departmental
committees which often, but not always, do no useful work, direct the
education of graduate students who may someday become your peers, then yes
it's worth it. If you don't want to have to bother with any one of these
things, then you might consider looking elsewhere. It all depends if you
can take the garbage that comes with the territory.
Any job you think about has negative points - it just depends on whether
you can put up with them and live for the good times.
