Your letter is truly frightening. Weren!t you given a mask/shield/some
form of protection from the UV light? Were you told anything about lab
safety?
You don!t mention if your *mentor* is faculty, graduate student,
undergraduate, technician, etc. Is there someone above your mentor to
whom you can speak? A laboratory is an incredibly dangerous place if you
are not taught how to handle the chemicals and equipment which you and
the people around you use. Find someone immediately who will answer all
your questions and give you more information than you asked for (you
can!t possibly know all the right questions to ask), or find another lab
that will.
