I'm keeping a look out for fictional portrayals of women scientists,
especially in a contemporary setting. My list so far consists
of The Clewiston Test (Kate Wilhelm), Brazzaville Beach (William Boyd),
Recombinations (Perry Klass), Small Changes (Marge Piercy), Cantor's
Dilemma (Carl Djerassi), The Falling Woman (Pat Murphy), & Three Times
Table (Sara Maitland). I'm also developing a growing subcategory
where the female character is not a scientist but is an active observer
of scientists and science, e.g., Snakes and Ladders (Penelope Farmer).
Does anyone know of any other novels (or short stories) which have
women scientist as characters or protagonists?
Thank you.
