Lori Kohlstaedt's point that children and careers are not for everyone is well
taken. A lot depends on your personality. On the other hand, for too many of
us, it feels like an either/or choice, and it doesn't have to be. I have
choosen both. I also have a high tolerance for stress and the ability to
accept that I will never be able to be "perfect". I don't mean to imply that
my choice is "the right one" or that any other choice is not as good. I think
there are as many solutions to the "problem" as there are people, and I like to
hear how others have "solved" it. Me, I had kids right out of high school,
then went to college, then worked, and now am in grad school while they are in
jr high/high school. It was a way, but I'm not sure it was the best way and I
certainly wouldn't tout it as the only way.
