Although this book is written from the point of view of a male
biochemist, there are three important female characters - a professor, a
grad student and a historian who is fascinated by science and scientists.
The story revolves around a group of older scientists, who, facing retirement,
decide to work on some new and exciting research and publish it
anonymously. Even though all of the female characters are seen through
the hero's eyes, the author has a lot to say about women in science, as
well as the "culture" of scientists. This book is just out in hardback
in the US.
