POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

MARINE RESEARCH ASSISTANT I
Graduate School of Oceanography
University of Rhode Island
(position is limited to 6 months with extension contingent on funding)

Duties and Responsibilities
Assist in field and laboratory research necessary to design and test
monitoring protocols associated with the long-term coastal ecosystems
monitoring program at Cape Cod National Seashore.  Environments of study
include freshwater wetlands and ponds, salt marshes, estuaries, forests,
beaches and dunes.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in biology is required.  Experience in ecological or
environmental field sampling is required, including vegetation and water or
soil chemistry sampling in salt marsh, freshwater wetland and pond
environments. Must have experience in laboratory activities, including
knowledge of lab chemistry and routine laboratory practices.  Experience in
data management with knowledge of spreadsheets and word processing software
is required. Must be able to work where position is located, at the Cape
Cod National Seashore coastal laboratory in Truro, MA.
