I would definitely support moderation -- until I (finally) got a graphical
interface news-browser (instead of the text-based news-reader I had
been using), I had no way to skip the spam messages. They're annoying,
and I think we would probably have a more active readership if a good
deal of the spam could be eliminated.
I know the idea of moderating this newsgroup was brought up a few years ago,
but decided against (by whom?) because of fears of censorship. I really
don't think that would be a major problem with a good moderator.
