POSITION: Two Graduate Research Assistants
LOCATION: Texas A&M University-Kingsville, Citrus Center, Weslaco and
the Vegetable Improvement Center (VIC), Texas A&M University, College
Station, TX.
DURATION: 2 years
SALARY: Commensurate with experience and qualifications (covers health
insurance and fringe benefits).
DUTIES: Laboratory and field experiments related to enhancement of
naturally occurring cancer chemopreventive compounds in citrus through
preharvest factors such as climate, fertilizer applications, rootstock,
and growth regulators. The incumbent will be based in
multidisicplinary laboratories of Dr.Bhimu Patil (Citrus Center) and
Dr. Leonard Pike (VIC). The successful candidate will have an
opportunity to develop his/her own project from interacting with
scientists in College Station (Texas A&M University), and in Weslaco
(Citrus Center, Texas Agricultural Experimental Station, and USDA-ARS).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION: B.S. in biology or closely related field, strong
background in analytical chemistry. Experience in HPLC, GC, and GC-MS
and postharvest studies is preferable.
