We currently have an opening for a postdoctoral research associate. Our
research focuses on the biochemistry and molecular biology of microbial
degradation of chlorinated aromatic compounds and organic chelating
agents. Our research provides information on reaction mechanisms and
pathways of xenobiotic degradation and reveals evolutionary relationships
among related genes involved in biodegradation. The postdoctoral
associate will be expected to contribute to either the studies of enzymes
involved in pentachlorophenol degradation using both biochemical and
molecular approaches or to the characterization of EDTA
(ethelenediaminetetraacetate) monooxygenase through site-directed
mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and single-molecule microscopy techniques.
