Unfortunately, I did not read that editorial. However, I can make very
specific comments that come out of one year of Hell. I had 10 suicides
and or attempts in 1 year in my high school. The students were all
minority students in sophomore to senior years. They were about evenly
divided regarding gender. The largest number were cloistered around a
group of AP Classes . Students were all high achievers.

But the breakdown came, I saw it , having to pick up piece by piece of the
multiple tragedies, seemed to a combination of major stress for
achievement, a few dysfunctional families (very few) and adolescence.
(possibly the root cause). Ideation of suicide seems to run in epidemics.

I failed to provide safeguards of counseling for this kids. because of
insufficient monetary allocation and untrained, overworked couselors and
teachers. I will damm myself forever.

Age is not a concern for humans: it is a concern for wine and cheese
