The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Missouri-Rolla
invites applications from qualified, energetic individuals for THREE
tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor to commence Fall
Semester, 1999. The three positions are in the following areas:
Environmental Microbiology (Position R-52824). Preference will be given
to
applicants with expertise in molecular approaches to microbial
biodiversity, ecology, evolution, physiology, or population genetics.
Toxicology (Position R-52825). Research expertise in the
cellular/molecular mechanisms of toxicology. Preference will be given to
applicants using in vitro or in vivo mammalian model systems.
Plant Physiology/Biochemistry (Position R-52826). Research expertise in
plant physiology, plant molecular biology, or plant biochemistry.
Preference will be given to applicants with background in
phytoremediation,
plant gene expression, phytotoxicity, or plant based human nutrition.
Qualifications for each position include a doctoral degree and a minimum
of
1-2 years of post-doctoral experience in the respective area of
specialization, evidence of excellence in teaching, and a strong record of
research. Successful applicants will be expected to teach at the
undergraduate level, participate in the development of a new graduate
program, and establish a funded research program involving both
undergraduate and graduate students. Opportunities exist for
collaborations within the department and with other departments and
centers
