A tangential topic, but the kind of help I find women in bio quite good at:
I'm involved in an NSF project on research ethics; one of the things that
comes out in workshops is that doctors and engineers have a professional
code, but scientists don't really have a formal code, only a definition of
misconduct. I recently joined the American Phytopathological Society (a
plant pathology group) and was intrigued to receive a "code of ethics" for
plant pathologists. I belong to AAAS and ASPP (Plant Physiology) and
haven't seen any codes from them, though they may exist. The APS code was
intriguing to me because it mentioned treating technicians with respect,
giving credit for authorship, etc, and I wondered if other societies have
such codes. If anyone could point me to societies that have codes and their
web pages if possible, I'd really appreciate it!
