** About the Conference
Creating a Positive Career Experience is the 7th annual Women in Science
and Engineering (WISE) conference. Our goal is to provide a forum for the
exchange of information and ideas on the challenges women face in preparing
for and pursuing successful careers. The discussions will be led by dynamic
speakers from across the country and the Texas A&M community.
The registration fee is $25 ($15 for students) and includes a
pre-conference reception and entertainment, registration packet, and lunch.
Free childcare will be available for the conference upon request.
Registration deadline is 17 February.
** Friday's Welcome Reception and Excellent Entertainment -- 19 February
1999
Plan to join us Friday evening before the conference for socializing and
great fun. We will start with a reception in the Memorial Student Center at
7:00, followed by an unforgettable presentation by Marc Abrahams, editor of
the infamous Annals of Improbable Research (AIR), an international science
humor magazine. AIR also administers the annual Ig Nobel Prize ceremony.
This year, four genuine Nobel Laureates, joined by a capacity crowd of 1200
and countless listeners and viewers via radio and the Internet, honored the
winners for achievements "that cannot or should not be reproduced".
There is no charge for this event for conference registrants. Others may
enter on a space-available basis at a $10 per person fee, payable at the
door. Don't miss this evening of fun and entertainment!
