Now since I have just turned three score and ten --admittedly I am somewhat
shocked. Now I can be even more of a loud mouth, a brazen hussy. etc.
etc. I believe that having reach this riipe (possibly rotten) age, that
there are several issues that need to be brought out.
1. As women, we must sustain this list. It is one of the few places where
we can make our ideas known and post as regularly as possible. Susan has
some new additions to the Launch Page that bear major discussion,
particularly the Research, and the New Faculty Training. .
2. Have you planned for your personal future financial security. I am
surely no financial wizard, but most of you are living on soft money unless
you have tenure or solid industrial apppointments. This is a cause of
concern. I DO NOT OFFER MY SERVICES BUT ONLY MY URGENT ADVICE. TO START
THINKING. Children's tuition comes up very fast.
3. Compliments to each other on the list. If we cannot recognize each
other , even though we have have citations, we loose self esteem. Self
esteem is absolutely crucial.
Saying to somebody that was a great post, or your idea gave me reference
point may be key. Yet discussion is superb it if leads to new ideas.
HAVE A WONDERFUL 1999--I KNOW I WILL--CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE TREASURES IT
PRESENTS.
