NAS report on postdocs

The National Academy has released its report on the status of postdocs
in science and engineering
(at http://www4.nationalacademies.org/pd/postdoc.nsf) .

Among this report's recommendations for reform:  increased  salaries and
benefits, more formal status and evaluations, a cap to the number of
years as a postdoc, and better system for transition to permanent
employment.
