WASHINGTON STATE UNIVERSITY FACULTY POSITIONS IN MOLECULAR BIOSCIENCES
The School of Molecular Biosciences will fill two tenure-track
positions to begin August 2002 or later, one at the Assistant Professor
level and one at the Associate or Full Professor level. Both positions
include competitive salaries, excellent laboratory facilities, access to
state-of-the-art equipment and excellent quality of life. We are looking
for highly qualified colleagues to complement and build on our current
strengths in the study of plant, animal and microbial systems in areas
such as protein biotechnology, reproductive biology, physiology,
pathogenesis, metabolism, enzymology, structural biology, biophysics,
chromosome dynamics and repair, gene regulation and expression (see
http://molecular.biosciences.wsu.edu.). The School offers undergraduate
and graduate degrees in biochemistry, microbiology, cell biology and
genetics. The successful candidates will be expected to develop and
maintain a vigorous research program supported by extramural funding,
train graduate students, and participate in graduate and undergraduate
teaching. Candidates must have a Ph.D., postdoctoral training, the
ability to communicate effectively with students and colleagues, and a
record indicating outstanding abilities and potential in research and
teaching. Assistant professor: Preference will be given to candidates
who have expertise in the broadly defined fields of molecular genetics
and cell biology (including genomic and bioinformatic approaches) and
who investigate fundamental problems in biology. Senior level: Must have
an established research program in the molecular biosciences. Preference
will be given to established investigators who have a strong record of
scientific accomplishment and external research funding. The advanced
position may include an endowed professorship and/or the opportunity for
an administrative role in the School. Screening of applicants will begin
November 1, 2001 and continue until the position is filled.
