Collection Assistant II

Full-time staff position available in the Zoology Department's Division of
Insects.  Primary responsibilities will involve collection maintenance and
improvement activities, specifically preparation, processing, sorting, and
curation of moths and butterflies and various other arthropods, including
beetles, flies, spiders and other arachnids, and millipedes.  Other
responsibilities will include databasing and other collection-based
projects as needed.

Experience with insect collection and preparation techniques (particularly
pinning and spreading of Lepidoptera) and familiarity with insect 
taxonomy
and nomenclature required.  Excellent manual dexterity and careful
attention to accuracy required, ability to recognize terrestrial arthropod
orders on sight desired.  Experience with computerized data entry strongly
preferred.  BS or equivalent required; MS preferred.  Salary in the mid-20s
with full benefits package available (medical, dental, life insurance, time
off).
