Plant Taxonomist and Project Leader required in Reading

We seek an accomplished plant taxonomist, skilled in floristics, to work 
as  part of a team on the floras of Europe and the Mediterranean. The post 
will be in the Euro+Med PlantBase Secretariat (part of the Centre for Plant 
Diversity and Systematics) at the School of Plant Sciences in The 
University of Reading. The post is for up to one year, under an E.U. 
contract, on the post-doctoral research assistant scale around £22522.

This challenging position has become vacant on the departure of the 
current  holder Dr Liz Caddick for Australia. It involves leading the 
taxonomic  effort in the Euro+Med PlantBase Secretariat, with others in the 
team  assisting with database management and taxonomic editing. The 
post involves  work on floristic treatments and checklists for inclusion in 
the Euro+Med  on-line database and a certain amount of administration 
and report writing.  The holder of the post will have experience as a plant 
taxonomist,  knowledge of the European flora, plus project management 
and communication  skills. The Co-ordinating Centre at Reading leads 
ten other European  Centres in this EU RTD Project, and involves working 
with an extensive  network of experts throughout the Euro-Mediterranean 
region. The post will  involve travel within the region. Considerable 
computer literacy is  required and appropriate language skills will be an 
advantage.
