The Department of Biology at the University of San Francisco
(http://www.usfca.edu/) invites applications for a tenure-track
position at the Assistant Professor level to begin in August, 2005.
Department: The Department offers the Bachelor of Science degree and
has a small Master's degree program. The large majority of our
undergraduate students are interested in post-graduate work in health
and medical science related fields. Faculty interests include cell
and molecular biology, population genetics, conservation biology,
immunology, ecology, marine biology, plant physiology, virology,
animal behavior, and parasitology. (see

Disciplinary Background: Applications from outstanding candidates in
any area of biological sciences will be considered. However, we are
especially interested in individuals who can contribute to the
Molecular Biology Emphasis area of our curriculum. The candidate
will be expected to develop an independent and ongoing research
program, and to apply for extramural support. Opportunities are
available to supervise undergraduate research as well as
Master's-level graduate students.
Teaching Responsibilities may include introductory Biology courses
for undergraduate majors and for non-majors, and upper division
courses in the field(s) of specialty. (Descriptions of the

Qualifications: Applicants should have university teaching
experience, evidence of scholarship, an earned doctorate in a
biological field by Spring 2005, experience and willingness to work
