Post-doctoral Position in Molecular Modeling and Design:
A two-year postdoctoral position is immediately available in the recently
established Biomolecular Structure Center at the University of Washington
for participating in several structure-based drug design projects with
particular emphasis on infectious diseases and cancer. The applicant is
expected to focus on the issue of conformational flexibility in protein-
ligand interactions, in particular in the context of the in computro
screening of large databases of ligands (more than 100,000).
The computational facilities of the Center are excellent and include nine
SGI and five DEC Alpha workstations, of which one has a 3 x 293 SPEC92fp
mark. Groups in no less than five disciplines contribute to the stimulating
environment of the Center: protein crystallography, protein NMR spectroscopy,
molecular modeling, protein engineering and biomolecular synthesis.
Qualifications include a PhD in chemistry, biophysics or bioinformatics with
experience in drug design. Other requirements include excellent computer
skills and the ability to develop computer programs and algorithms. Interested
applicants are invited to submit a letter of application, c.v., and the names
of three or more referees to either Dr. Christophe L.M.J. Verlinde or Dr. Wim
G.J. Hol, Biomolecular Structure Center, University of Washington, Box 357742,
Seattle, WA 98195-7742. The University of Washington is an equal opportunity
and affirmative action employer.
