Computing Manager at the

A computational facility manager is sought who will oversee an array of
Unix-based servers and graphics workstations as well as NT workstations.
The manager will interact with users on a regular basis, and be responsible
for system adminstration and computer maintenance. Extensive experience in
system administration and knowledge of Unix is essential; experience in NT
administration and client/server networks is highly desirable.
It is envisaged that the candidate would have a strong background in compu-
ting - although persons with other relevant backgrounds are also encouraged
to apply. Interpersonal skills are seen as important in such a key position
within the institute.
The Max Planck Institute for Molecular Physiology consists of four departments
(Structural Biology, Physiology, Physical Biochemistry, Biological Chemistry)
and brings together biologists, chemists and structural biologists into a
dynamic and exciting research environment. The institute is involved in the
elucidation of biological structures and functions using molecular biology,
biochemistry, protein crystallography, microscopy, and (NMR) spectroscopy. If
time permits the successful applicant is welcome to participate in ongoing
projects of the institute.
Dortmund is a medium-size city in the heart of Germany. The institute is
located on the university campus next to the technology center.
The position is for 5 years at a starting salary of BATIIA or BATIB depending
on qualification. Closing date for application is Sept. 13 1999.
