                 RESEARCH ASSOCIATE  5 (Beamline Manager)
          RESEARCH ASSOCIATE 3 or 4  (Assistant Beamline Manager)
                               (2 Positions)
The  Center  for  Advanced  Microstructures  and  Devices  (CAMD), is a $50
million  research facility at Louisiana State University.  The heart of the
facility  is an electron storage ring that operates at energies between 1.3
and1.5  GeV  and  produces  synchrotron  radiation.  The X-rays are used by
research   teams   and  industry  to  conduct  basic  research  and/or  for
lithographic applications in microfabrication.

CAMD   seeks  qualified  applicants  for a   Research Associate 5 (Beamline
Manager)  position  (Ref:  #024424).   This  position reports to the Deputy
Director.     Responsibilities   to   include   procurement,  installation,
development,   operation,   and  maintenance  of  the  Gulf  Coast  Protein
Crystallography   Consortium  (GPCCC)  beamline  and  endstation  at  CAMD.
Successful applicant will also be expected to perform collaborative Protein
Crystallography  research  at the GCPCC  beamline.  The position requires a
Ph.D.  or  a  combination  of a Bachelor's degree and experience totaling 6
years  in  a  relevant scientific field with a background in macromolecular
crystallography,  and  familiarity  with  synchrotron  x-ray  research  and
instrumentation.   Additional  Requirements  Desired:  Experience with Unix
system administration.

CAMD  seeks qualified applicants for a Research Associate 3 or 4 (Assistant
Beamline  Manager)   (Ref:  #016822)  This position reports to the Beamline
Manager.  Responsibilities  include  support for installation, development,
operation  and  maintenance  of  the  Gulf  Coast  Protein  Crystallography
Consortium beamline and  endstation  at  CAMD.   Successful applicant  will
also be expected  to support  Protein Crystallography research at the GCPCC
beamline.  The  position  requires  a Master's Degree or a combination of a
Bachelor's degree  and experience totaling 5 years in a relevant scientific
field  and  familiarity   with   crystallography  or  technical  scientific
experience.   Additional   Requirements   Desired:  Ph.D.  in  a   relevant
scientific field; experience   with   computerized   data  acquisition  and
control.   Salary  and  level  will  be  commensurate  with  education  and
experience.
