Post-doctoral Position
Post-doctoral fellowships are available for a crystallographer to
work in the Research School of Chemistry at the Australian National
University in Canberra. The position carries a salary of around
Aus$40,000 pa, and runs for two years with a possible extension to
three. The University will provide a return airfare to successful
candidates and their family.
Work is proceeding on a number of projects, including structural
studies of a cytokine receptor as well as receptor complexes.
Structural studies involving a signal protein and replication
proteins are also being undertaken. In addition, there are a number
of crystallographic projects in their early stages (crystals
available) and engineering studies that require structural work.
The lab is well equipped for macro-molecular crystallography with
rotating anode sources, image plate detector, cryo-cooling equipment
etc, a local network of workstations, and access to the university
supercomputer for serious computing. There is a well equipped lab
for protein purification, crystallization and molecular biology.
There is technical support for both the wet lab and the x-ray lab.
Canberra, the nation's capital, is a pleasant modern city that is
well placed with respect to ski fields and the beach. The cost of
living in Canberra is modest compared with other Australian cities
and it is within easy reach of Sydney.
