compiling xplor under linux

thanks to you and the others who have sent me email. i have managed to
compile xplor 3.851 under rh llinux 6.2 with the pgi compilers.

the only hangup ws with the "-static" flag... which the pgf77 did not
like... and i am no fortran programmer so i submitted my question on
that to the appropriate newsgroup.

i do have other questions, but will make a new post.
