cns on linux

Hi,

I am having a problem running either CNS 1.1 or CNS 1.0 on my Red Hat
Linux 7.3 machine. I compiled it with Fort77, and it installed just
fine, but when I run scripts that involve entering the space group (like
make_cv.inp), I get the following message:

 Error: symmetry operators do not form a group. Check # 1 * # 1
%XMDOAS3 error encountered: Error involving symmetry operators.
(CNS is in mode: SET ABORT=NORMal END)
 *****************************************************
ABORT mode will terminate program execution.
 *****************************************************
 Program will stop immediately.

This script ran fine on a unix machine. The spacegroup.lib file looks
fine and replacing it did not make any difference. Other scripts run
flawlessly on the linux machine (e.g. generate.inp). I figure this must
be a problem with the installation. Should I have compiled with Fort77?
Should I have recompiled the f2c library? What else can I try? Is
anybody out there successfully running CNS on my Red Hat Linux 7.3
machine? How did you install it?

I am running out of ideas to try.

Bill
