repfin17.readme RepFind (promoter find) is a MS-DOS program to identify common repetitive elements in DNA sequence. It is also able to identify and mask vector sequence. The program accepts sequence files in GenBank, EMBL, Fasta and plain format. It requires a 386 microprocessor or higher. RepFind is designed to operate in tandem with two other programs, SorFind (that predicts coding exons in vertebrate DNA) and PromFind (that identifies promoter regions in vertebrate DNA). All three programs create a feature table, or if one is already present modifies the feature table to include the predictions. The program is packaged as a self-executing binary file that contains the following files: RepFind.exe - the MS-DOS executable RepFind.doc - a manual in Microsoft Word format RepFind.txt - the same manual as a text file (not as pretty) There are also files in 3 subdirectories: HUMAN - a collection of common human repetitive elements RODENT - an expandable file of rodent repeats TEST - files that can be used to demonstrate the examples in the manual The program are provided free of charge, and as such there is no warranty, expressed or implied.
