Welcome to OligoCR the oligonucleotide calculation and database management for MacOS Introduction: OligoCR is a data management tool for organizing and cataloging oligonucleotide collection. It allows you to store information about the oligos, e.g., the category (PCR, sequencing....), type of project the oligo is used for, its application, its description. To search your oligo database, just click the mouse. It has the capability to proofread your sequences while you are inputting. € Calculate oligo concentration see Dracopoli, et al (1994), Current Protocols in Human Genetics, vol 1, page A.3D.2 € Calculate Tm Tm = 81.5 + 16.6(log(Na+)) + 0.41(%GC) - (675/length). assuming Na+ = 0.1 M. € Optional proof-reading for entering sequences - read out the nucleotide € Calculate the amount of oligo to make working solution € Search your oligo in a variety different ways € Look up oligos simply by mouse clicking. € Export oligo records to tab-delimit format which can be read by other applications, e.g., Microsoft Excel. Usage: After launch the OligoCR application, it will ask you for the file you want to open. € Select your favorite file and you can start to enter new oligos. € If you do not have any OligoCR files, choose cancel and a new file will be created. € When in oligo entry window, clicking the "Calculate" button will store the oligo in computer memory, and ready for you to save. By clicking the "Enter Next" button, you can enter the information for your new oligo. € To find your oligo by name, you choose "Find by Name" in the "Find" menu, and type the name of your oligo. OligoCR is not case-sensitive here, so you can type either lower case or upper case characters. Note: You can type a partial name (if you do not remember the whole name of your oligo), OligoCR will find the oligo for you. For example, to find the oligo named "My Oligo for a beautiful name", you can simply type "my oligo". € If OligoCR finds several oligo with similar names, or you choose "Find all oligos", OligoCR presents a list of the oligos. To go the specific oligo, just double click the oligo. € To export to tab-delimt format, choose "Export as Text..." from "File" menu, and give a name for your new file. The default file type is for Microsoft Excel, but it can be read by many other applications. Comments and Suggestions: Your comments and suggestions are welcome. This will give me opportunities for improving the OligoCR. _______________________________ ©1997, Yongming Sun. All rights reserved.
