Enclosed is Speakquencer 1.4. Speakquencer is a small text editor which speaks characters as they are typed from the keyboard and reads them back when a portion of text is selected with the mouse. Its main use is to help in the entry or verification of nucleic acid or protein sequence information. Speakquencer can speak all letters of the alphabet, but the user may restrict speech to standard IUB codes for DNA, RNA or amino acids. The speech rate can be set to between 1 and 3 characters per second. Speakquencer is intended for those who do not have access to molecular biology software with speech capabilities.
