ssu rRNA sequence stack replaces 16S/18S rRNA stack. This stack was rewritten from scratch & contains the entire Ribosomal Database Project sequence release #1. The sequences are accessable via a series of linked phylogenetic trees, a list, or by name. From James W. Brown, jwbrown@bio.indiana.edu -------- 16/18S rRNA seqs ("16/18S") is a Hypercard stack for the Apple Macintosh series microcomputer. The stack is designed for use by scientists (molecular biologists in particular) for the storage & retrieval of non- aligned small subunit ribosomal RNA sequences. The current version of 16/18S comes with 228 16/18S rRNA sequences from all three phylogenetic Kingdoms. rRNA sequences are accessed through a series of linked phylogenetic trees; clicking at any terminal node of a tree will either take you one level higher (or lower) in the overall tree, or will present a menu of choices of rRNA sequences from the phylogenetic group represented by that node. Sequences can be printed out or saved to either the clipboard or a MacWrite file. A simple search capability is provided for locating sub-sequences. 16/18S will run on any Macintosh computer that can run Hypercard. Hypercard 1.1 (or later) required. CONTACT ADDRESS James W. Brown Biology Department Indiana University Bloomington, IN 47405 The 16/18S rRNA seqs HyperCard stack is internally documented through the use of the HyperCard "?" button. Internal help provides a description of all of the HyperCard buttons. References are provided for each of the sequence entries.
