Tree Draw Deck is a Macintosh Hypercard (version 2) stack which draws phylogenetic trees. It is derived from Drawgram and Drawtree of Phylip (Phylogeny Inferace Package, v. 3.3) by J. Felsenstein. This stack will read a tree description, in Newick format, such as (Gorilla:0.17,(Chimp:0.19, Human:0.12):0.08); and then draw unrooted trees or rooted cladograms and phenograms. This deck contains documentation, and will produce Macintosh PICTure (MacDraw-compatible) files. Pascal and C source for the drawing XCMDs is also included in the deck. Update June 1991 notes: -- HyperCard 2 version of this stack. -- Various patches to XCMDs to fix bugs. -- This will now draw large trees, instead of bomb. Large tree drawings may need to be editted with MacDraw (e.g.) to expand them over several pages to look good. Tested okay with a 473 item 16S RNA tree from the rRNA Database project. It is available as a BinHex, Stuffit encoded file via anonymous FTP from the Iubio archive as: >ftp ftp.bio.indiana.edu (alternate address: cricket.bio.indiana.edu) ftp> user: anonymous ftp> password: guest ftp> cd molbio/mac (a Unix archive) ftp> get treedraw.hqx (the original for HCard version 1, is still available as treedraw-old.hqx) If the ftp.bio.indiana.edu address fails you, try cricket.bio.indiana.edu. At this time, the archive is being shifted among computers due to upgrades. The archive will probably be moved back to iubio.bio.indiana.edu in late June or July. I will try to keep the address "ftp.bio.indiana.edu" as one that always gets you to this archive (but iu nameservers have not kept up with this change). ...Permission is granted to copy, distribute, and modify this stack provided that (1) the copyright message is not removed and (2) no fee is charged for the stack. from D.G.Gilbert Biology Department, Indiana University Gilbert@Bio.Indiana.Edu
